Permits

Before applying for the Recreational Shellfish Permit please check you are in the correct region. This permit is for the NORTHUMBERLAND IFCA DISTRICT (from the centre of the River Tyne to the Scottish border).

Thank you for your interest in getting a recreational NIFCA permit. Anyone aged 16 and over can apply for a recreational shellfish permit to fish for lobster and crab in the NIFCA district. The annual permit runs from January to December and includes 5 pot tags (plus escape gaps) to be fitted to your pots.

PLEASE NOTE THIS PERMIT IS FOR THE NORTHUMBERLAND IFCA DISTRICT ONLY. £10 per annum. Potting for lobster and crab. All pots must be fitted with an escape gap and recreational pot tag and should be clearly marked with the owner details.
