About Fisher Forums

Fisher Forums are local meetings designed to listen to fishers about matters that are important to them, to share knowledge and information about fisheries management and conservation initiatives that are relevant to both fishers and the NIFCA, and overall to support a thriving fishing industry where both people and nature can benefit. Meetings are informal in nature, designed to encourage discussion, and will be followed by refreshments. Meetings will be recurring and NIFCA will aim to drop-in to harbours and ports throughout the district multiple times through the year.

Everyone is welcome, including family members and retired fishers. More Fisher Forums will be held later this year (2026) and dates and venues will be listed below. The most recent Fisher Forums were held throughout the district in December 2025 and a range of topics were raised and discussed with Officers by those who attended. Here’s a summary of what we’ve been hearing.
