The European Commission has determined that bass stocks remain under pressure despite the measures taken in previous years. It has placed further restrictions on the commercial and recreational fishing sectors in order to address this.

Pursuant to section 115 and 116 of the Marine and Coastal Access Act 2009, NIFCA intends to apply to the Minister for the Department of Environment & Rural Affairs to revoke the “Prohibition of the Use of Mobile Fishing Gear within the English section of the Berwickshire and North Northumberland Coast Special Area of Conservation” byelaw (7) and remake it incorporating exemptions for the use of specified gear in specified areas of the English section of the Berwickshire and North Northumberland Coast Special Area of Conservation.

The UK fisheries administrations are seeking three individuals to join the Seafish Industry Authority (Seafish) Board as Non-Executive industry representative members.  Do you know anyone who you think would be a suitable candidate for the roles?
 
The role
The non-executive member of the Seafish board will provide strategic direction and leadership to the organisation, drive performance and hold the Executive to account against strategic and corporate plans. They must ensure Seafish operates with propriety, regularity, economy, efficiency and effectiveness and uses public money properly.
 
We are particularly seeking applications from people with knowledge and expertise of working in either the large scale fisheries sector in Scotland, the small scale fisheries sector or the food business service.
