The Owner of a cafe in the district of Northumberland IFCA has been given a Financial Administrative Penalty (FAP) by the Northumberland Inshore Fisheries and Conservation Authority, (NIFCA) for offering for sale 8 undersize lobsters. More information can be seen in our press release HERE.

DEFRA have confirmed the extension of the above byelaw for the next 6 months, pending its replacement in a permanent NIFCA byelaw.
NIFCA was pleased to welcome “two budding Fisheries Officers” to the team for a work experience week in July – 14 year old Robbie from the Sea Cadets and 15 year old Thomas from the Sea Scouts. They worked with Officers from NIFCA, the MMO and the EA to complete a one-week work experience placement and both lads were a welcomed addition to a busy week of operational and environmental work. Both produced a report on the work they were involved in, which you can read (and enjoy as much as we did) below.
