At NIFCA, we believe that the best fisheries management is informed by those who know our waters best. Consultations are formal periods where we invite members of the public, commercial fishers, and environmental stakeholders to share their views on proposed byelaws and fishing rules.
Your feedback provides us with the on-the-ground evidence needed to make sure our regulations are fair, effective, and balanced. By participating, you help us safeguard the coast for future generations while supporting a viable local industry.
Have your say
Current status: There are currently no open formal consultations.
Your perspectives and contributions are an essential part of our decision-making process. We encourage you to check this page regularly or subscribe to our newsletter to stay informed about upcoming proposals or changes to fishing rules that may affect your activities in the district.
Open-ended consultation
We are collecting evidence on the harvesting of intertidal species, such as periwinkles, mussels, limpets, and seaweed, to better understand the scale and frequency of these activities. This is a vital fact-finding mission to ensure that any future management of our shorelines is based on accurate, local data.
How you can help:
Transparency is key to our process. Below, you can access the documentation and final outcomes for previous consultations to see how stakeholder feedback has shaped current fishing rules and district regulations.
